Mutant Uprising: Throdd the Slayer's Version
Invasion from below, death in the streets, & a tree grows in Mutant Town

Throdd and Cobb were hatching a plan to claim the reward on the Green Lady when an explosion rocked the Eastern portion of Gordon. The mutants lashed out at the murder of the ruling family of Mutant Town. The mutants struck hard and fast, chaos filled the streets. Throdd grabbed his Druid ally and attempted to escape the tavern they were in through the back door, but alas revenge was not only the minds of the deformed citizens of the undercity this day. Gangs that Throdd’s companions had crossed used the confusion to settle scores and Cobb & Two-Daggers were on the list.

Seekin' Smilin' Jack

Seeking the best payday our heroes decide to pursue the bounty placed on Smilin’ Jack Hanover. His last known whereabouts being Chamberpot Alley in East Gordon. Halfling sisters, Lilian and Rio felt the best course of action would be to seduce Smilin’ Jack so they sought out a store that could outfit them on the cheap and found it at Creepy Pete’s. On the way to Creepy Pete’s, a beggar accosted the crew for a copper and a silver piece which Cobb graciously turned over currying him favor with the bums of Gordon (for better or worse).

Creepy Pete ended up selling Rio and Lilian some makeup and loaning them some sexy children’s clothes in return for a favor later. Meanwhile Cobb decided to honor Ildavir further by feeding the masses here in East Gordon. Escorted by Throdd, he brought a turkey to the first house. The tenants did not seem to appreciate Throdd’s brusque tone and not only did they not open the door to accept the food, they also attempted to dump a chamberpot onto Throdd’s head. Throdd responding by hurling the turkey at the tenant which caused her to begin yelling for the city guard. Cobb and Throdd beat a hasty retreat to catch up with the others.

Venturing further into East Gordon toward Chamberpot Alley, Lillian and Rio were accosted by some dangerous looking fellows in an alley. Seeing as how the halflings had already put on makeup and dressed in the sexy clothes provided by Creepy Pete, the citizens misconstrued their intentions and assumed they were for sell (or free with some aggressive motivation). The fight started off with Lilian getting her weapon caught up in the tassels of her newly acquired outfit and Rio getting popped in the head with a blackjack. A thrown dagger between the ribs of the assailant courtesy of the unnamed thief ended the fray as the other two goons took off down the alley. Lilian and Rio decided to strip the guy to cover up a little bit better while the unnamed thief looted the body and attempted to pin the death on the Carnoli Mob.

They finally arrived at the hovel of Hanover and after a brief scouting of the area around the house, decided to coax Jack out. After a seductive attempt to lure him out courtesy of Lilian and a more forceful approach courtesy of Throdd, Throdd decides to smash in the front door. After smashing it in slightly but not enough for it to open, Lilian tries the handle and the door opens quite easily.

Inside the shack had been ransacked, with no sign of Jack. The crew does spot a very expensive piece of fabric that was ripped off onto a nail and find a trapdoor leading 10 feet down into a hand dug tunnel.

Limboing crotch-first through the tunnel, the unnamed thief emerged into a large sewer duct quickly followed by the rest of the crew. They hung a left and began walking down the sewer walkway for some time before a giant waste centipede erupted from the river of poop! The unnamed thief continued walking on while the other four engaged the creature. Rio smacked the creature in the gullet with a “rock” while Lilian missed and threw a spear into the river. Seeing an opportunity for glory Throdd pitched himself onto the back of the hideous beast! The beast answered in kind by throwing itself at Rio using Throdd as the meatshield. Seeing her opportunity then, Lilian jumped onto the front side of the monster and stabbed into it. During the fray, Cobb was calling upon the power of Ildavir for protection and healing. Rio swung wide and accidentally hit Throdd with another “rock”. Then with a mighty yank, Throdd beheaded the beast or whatever (the thing didn’t actually have a head per se). As penance for the party foul, Rio rooted through the top portion of the poop monster, found a giant ruby and turned it over to Throdd. Lilian cut off chunks of the beasts carapace for later.

Throdd and Cobb decided to catch up with the unnamed thief who had by this point found a ladder going up out of the sewer. They emerged into a very fancy looking foyer. The unnamed thief immediately rolled up the fancy looking carpet to take. Throdd then immediately used said rug to wipe the feces and centipede ichor from his body. They went through the door and emerged into a very high-class bordello. After an exchange with Big John, the proprietor of the establishment (and a subtle casing of the joint), our heroes discerned that the scrap of fabric was more than likely Big John’s and also that this establishment wants him dead.

Meanwhile Lilian and Rio walked about a half mile further into the sewer to find the rest of the centipede and they found it bunched up against a grating halfway blocking it up. They fished it out and unblocked the grating. Lilian hacked off more parts of the creature and found some more coinage in the carcass.

The Sinking of the Purple Rose

The unnamed thief headed back to The Purple Rose with Elijah and a different crew. Bursting through the front door of the joint, they are immediately set upon by pirates of the Church of the Purple Rose. Despite Kosh’s inept elven casting, quick work was made of the drunken lot. The ruckus created, however, drew the rest of the lot from “upstairs”.

The crew set themselves up to ambush the pirates that were about to come through the locked door from the other room. The bodies quickly piled up in the doorway as they fought through the throng of pirates.

Highlights of this single fray included:

  • the unnamed thief throwing a dagger into the back of a level zero, killing them instantly
  • a dwarf grabbing a spear and impaling one pirate
  • another level zero shoving said dwarf into ANOTHER pirate bringing the impaled pirate count to 2 (spear-ka-bob)
  • one pirate who was bashed, almost impaled and took a dagger to the face courtesy of the dagger-happy unnamed thief STILL managed to live and got taken prisoner

The crew found that the portal upward which they had previously rigged locked and shut had been bashed open and the portal downward had now been triple locked. After grilling the prisoner and looting the bodies, two keys were found to the locks.

Three level zeros went upstairs to poke around the pirate’s living quarters to look for the third key. After searching through the wardrobes which resulted in one taking a spear-trap THROUGH the face (which didn’t kill him) they happen to see the key just lying on a table.

After some rum-based first aid and a briefing of what was below, our heroes decide to MacGuyver up a huge pointy torch thing consisting of rum, pirate rags and a board with a nail in it.

Secured by a grappling hook and jury-rigged pirate rag rope, one of the level zeros went out to the middle of the first rope bridge and lit up this gigantic fireball and tossed it over the side. Seeing this, Elijah panicked and lunged for the end of the torch to grab it before it went over causing him to fall with it. Despite a valiant attempt to snare him with the grappling hook and rag rope, he went careening to his fiery awful death in the gaping may of the giant leech sarlacc pit monster. This act just served to piss off the monster which subsequently started going berserk and bringing the ship down. This drew the attention of the pirate ghouls from the cave who tried to get at the crew but met their end thanks to a rum-based fireball taking out the rope bridge between them.

They bolted out of the ship as it was sinking inch by inch and all but the last guy made it out. But to his credit, at least 50% of him got out before it stopped sinking. At this point, one of the halflings decided to take out the drunk in the crow’s nest out front while the unnamed thief released daggerface into the wild to tell his guys who was responsible for this.

Venturing out and the Scouting of the Purple Rose

The new level 1s ventured forth into Gordon to get information and gear. The unnamed thief traded two cursed coats to some shady guy in an alley for some better gear and also tried to get back in good with Danzaborou. Cobb fed the masses on Temple Row garnering favor with his church and god. He also went door to door spreading the good word and picked up some additional adventurers to boot.

The gang found themselves at the Crossroads Inn and Tavern where the picked up some info on the surrounding areas as well as a noble who was willing to pay decent money to retrieve an heirloom from a pirate ship stuck sideways into the ground. The ship had been converted to a sanctuary by the Church of the Purple Rose who are supposedly a gang of thugs running under the guise of a church for tax reasons.. or something.

They traveled west to The Purple Rose and tried to interact peacefully with the pirates but that went south fairly quickly. After killing some, sleeping one and locking a bunch upstairs, our heroes ventured downward.

Coming across a rope bridge, they dropped a candle way way waaay down into the mouth of a GIGANTIC leech-mouthed horror at the bottom of the ravine. Holes in the ship opened upon a series of caves where our fateful crew ran into strange undead fishmen pirates. Clutching his pine tree air freshener, Kim’s cleric helped to divide the force and the crew made quick work of the enemy.

The Warlock's Foreclosure

Well our fateful dcc soon-to-be heroes set off on a quest for EZ money to exterminate a raccoon or two in a foreclosed home. Payment was contingent on not messing the place up too badly. It quickly escalated into much more than what was expected. The house turned out to be booby-trapped to the teeth, the man owed money to more than just the property holder and the raccoon turned out to be a giant fire-breathing demon raccoon.

Highlights include:

  • starting a fight with a bread poltergeist
  • feeding a chicken bits of the poltergeist bread and having it immediately crap out a slime monster
  • initiating a fight with Carnoli Mob henchman and allowing one to get away
  • a farmer almost getting tranced into a ritual possession with a doll containing the soul of the previous homeowner, Felix Feldexter, but somehow the farmer succeeded and killed(??) the doll
  • finding evidence of Felix’s weird kinky private life
  • finding and destroying an altar to Danzaborou (they all got cursed)
  • killing one of Danzaborou’s minions which turned out to be a gigantic fire-breathing horned raccoon demon thing

Needless to say they failed to get paid said EZ money due to massive damage in the house including but not limited to- holes in the ceiling, almost burning down the house, blood and .. worse ALL over the place. But all was not lost, our almost heroes did manage to leave with some of the things they found in the house (for better or worse) and enough experience to reach level 1!
